Why interested in applying for this position(s)?

I have the good fortune of working freelance and can make the time required to devote to related activities of the mosque. Although I attempted for 20 years to form some semblance of a Muslim community in Dover, no Jen was interested and therefore I joined the community in Canterbury, being equidistance from both cities, and found a thriving community my son and I became a part of and this would be my bit contributing as a Muslim and grateful mother.

Two objectives to achieve in the next 24 months

Personally or for the mosque/community? As they’re interrelated, I can say that the I have already taken the step in fulfilling the first objective, which is to add my son to a Quran/tapered and Arabic class, for which I’m very grateful to Allah. I suppose I would like to work on the classes attracting perhaps some university students to give classes in their spare time either remunerated, or voluntarily so the options for students are flexible instead of having only the fixed classes with students of varying levels, in the same class.

My second objective would be to develop a legal/counselling bureau to help Muslims struggling with problems, marriage, injustices as I see a great void in this. I’m personally one who has witnessed even London central mosque marginalising women who have complained of domestic abuse and other forms of exploitation and I believe that going back to basics to address such issues women suffer in silence is crucial to reviving the Sunna of our beloved prophet as over the centuries, somehow a misogynistic angle has entered the judgements.

My third objective would be to create a focus group to include debate groups to research snd discuss the Sunna with direct correlation with the Quran in order to increase knowledge and understanding. These can be included as social events as well where ultimately renowned scholars can be invited.

Why interested in applying for this position(s)?

To continue helping my Muslim community and Canterbury Mosque

Two objectives to achieve in the next 24 months

I have been elected on 2019 as the chairman of the executive committee in Canterbury Mosque.
I believe that I have applied the best of my administrative and leadership skills and knowledge into my position. It was a hectic 18 months at the beginning due to COVID-19 and I believe that both my leadership and committee members leadership has been an integral factor in keeping our mosque and community as safe as can be.
During the last two years, we have a formal Imam post filled by a formal Imam, who started considerable activities for Da’wa.
The last two years also showed considerable attention given to new Muslims, women at mosque, teenagers activities, children involvement and refugee charitable actions.
The extension donations were lifted up by around £100,000 and an actual engagement from a formal engineering company has already started. We are in the process of starting Phase A in the extension which will see larger space area for musaleen and school and also a flat for Imam residence which will save at least £12000 a year in our budget.
We looked after the Mosque infrastructure and renewed the residence furniture.
A new car park marking and refurbishment of sisters’ side was also achieved.
The mosque was positively in the local and national news for various positive reasons, mainly due our active involvement and leadership serving the community during COVID-19, and helping other services like the Police, NHS, GP surgeries, and local charities.
Muslim women had more rules in the decision making of the mosque activities and we are very proud of this achievement and our sisters’ activities and leadership.I will continue serving through objectives which I believe are vital for the Muslim communities in UK, and for the Mosque roles in modern Britain.
More guided care towards stakeholders namely:
Women- Teenagers- Youth- New Muslims and children.
My aim is to increase the numbers of independent leaders within our volunteers.
We managed to increase the number of volunteers in the last two years, but my aim is to increase leadership and initiative amongst our volunteers as well.
