Ramadan is the month of Allah
The month of Ramadan [is that] in which was revealed the Qur’an, a guidance for the people and clear proofs of guidance and criterion. So whoever sights [the new moon of] the month, let him fast it; and whoever is ill or on a journey – then an equal number of other days. Allah intends for you ease and does not intend for you hardship and [wants] for you to complete the period and to glorify Allah for that [to] which He has guided you, and perhaps you will be grateful. (2:185)

FAQ
- [General]: Can I participate with the same pages/Surah from my previous participation last year or the year before?
- If you choose to participate this year with the same Quran pages or surahs from last year, you will lose 10% of your score. This is to ensure fair competition and to encourage you to memorise something new.
- [General]: Is there a consideration for those who are not fluent in Arabic?
- Consideration during marking will be given to those who are not fluent in Arabic.
- [General]: When will the competitions take place?
- After Ramadan, to be announced.
- [General]: Can I participate in more than one category/level?
- No.
- [General]: Do I have to recite the Quran with Tajweed in the competitions?
- Tajweed is part of reading the Quran. However, the panel recognises the difference among languages and some tajweed mastering difficulties.
- Thus, the main factor in the competition is memorisation, as long as there are no major mistakes in reading or changing words. Tajweed may be used as a “Tiebreaker” when two contestants got the same memorisation score.
- We will be running weekly reading sessions online to help those who want to learn how to recite Quran properly. Please attend and encourage others to do so.
- [Children]: What are the age groups for children’s competition?
- We have 4 age groups [5->6] [7->9] [10->12] and [13->15]
- [Children]: How will the different ages of participants be managed?
- The participants in each level will be grouped into 4 age brackets. Thus, each child will compete with others of the same age. In case, that was not possible due to practicality, the panel will consider that during marking.
- [Children]: What are the required 3 short surahs?
- [112: Al-Ikhlaas], [113: Al-Falaq] and [114: Al-Naas].
- [Children]: What are the required 6 short surahs?
- Choose 6 surahs from [103: Al-‘Asr] to [114: Al-Naas].
- [Children]: What are the required last 5 pages from Juz’ Amma?
- From page #600 to page #604 i.e. from surah [101: Al-Qaari’ah] to [114: Al-Naas].
