Safety, Security, and Vigilant

Dear brothers and sisters

Canterbury Muslim Cultural Centre has been in contact with the Police department and Kent University security team for the last few days.

The meetings arranged in response to the threats on Muslims & Mosques by the Far Right groups.

Kent Police are aware of the situation and we have been reassured that the matter is in hand and that safeguarding the community is paramount.

The following measures are taken by CMCC management:

1- we have contacted and met Kent police regarding the ongoing riots and the safety of the mosque and Muslim Community.

2- CCTV camera at the mosque are covering all areas around. We are in contact with the CCTV security team for further assistance.

3- We have contacted the Kent University Security team requesting more patrols around the mosque.

4- We also contacted a security agency to review the possibility of security guards At vulnerable times.

5- The mosque doors will be closed after every prayer.

For our beloved community, we recommend the following:

1- Please take extra care when visiting Canterbury Mosque.

2- Sisters should come to the prayers with families. Please note, the door between brothers & sisters sides will be open for safety reasons.

3- Please travel in groups and avoid dark areas when possible.

4- Report any suspicious behaviour to Kent police online or by phone 101

In case of emergency call 999

5- Please do not leave the mosque windows open and close them if you see any window opened.

6- Do not get provoked with any confrontation and immediately call the police.

Allah Azawagal says in Surat Alzumul:
(Is not Allah Sufficient for His servant. Yet they try to frighten you with those besides Him! And whom Allah sends astray, for him there will be no guide. And whomsoever Allah guides, for him there will be no misleader. Is not Allah Almighty, Possessor of Retribution”) 36-37
