School Visits

Canterbury Mosque welcomes School visits from Canterbury and surroundings areas.

As a Muslim community, we have always believed in the importance of Interfaith relations. Our Mosque has its door open to the whole community to encourage everyone to drop in and learn about the true Islam.
One very important way to introduce Islam to the wider community is through inviting schools to visit our mosque and/or offering a visit to schools.

For more than a decade, Canterbury Mosque has opened its door to school visits to reinforce their learning. The usual visitors are Primary Schools, however, Secondary schools are very welcome.

We have had very positive reviews along the years. Children as well as their teachers enjoy the visits and learn a lot.

You are always welcome in Canterbury Mosque

If you wish a visit to or from our mosque, please fill in the form  and we will get in touch within 48 hours.

    Feedback From The Schools

    “Eastling Primary School, Faversham.

Thank you so much for being so accommodating. The children really enjoyed the day. Having spoken to them this morning, it seems they liked hearing the prayer and the 'music/singing'. They also liked seeing real people praying. Some also said they liked learning the alphabet and seeing how to write their name. I think the highlight though was being able to dress up!"

    St John’s Primary School, Canterbury

"Thank you so much for all the support with the trip and assembly. Feedback from children was very positive and parent helpers fed back that they felt like they had also learnt lots of new things! Teachers commented that children appreciated seeing their knowledge of faith (from lessons) contextualised in their community. I know both groups felt very well looked after and found it really interesting. It would be amazing if we could organise future trips etc as this has been so positive!"

    Selling Primary School, Faversham

"Thank you so much for a fabulous day at Canterbury Mosque! The children (and adults) had an amazing day and thoroughly enjoyed learning more about Islam! Please pass on our thanks again to your wonderful volunteers they were all so welcoming and the activities were extremely engaging. Thank you again for being so accommodating."

    Beavers And Cubs Scouts

"I would really like to say a big thank you to Bushra and Jamila for coming to visit our Scout Group last week, the children and adult really enjoyed the visit and have learnt a great deal. Thank you"

    Seabrook School

"It was lovely to have you in our school and class. The information and talk that you provided was very in depth and interesting. The slides shown were good. It may be good to have the call to prayer as a link on the slides for future talks (as it was unexpected for us!). You were, obviously, extremely knowledgeable and could answer any questions the children asked, explaining in a way that was at the children's level of understanding and appropriateness. It might be useful to have some more questions you could ask the children to get a discussion going. Those that did join in, enjoyed the dressing up too."

    St Peter’s Methodist Primary School

Thank you so much for visiting our school last week. We loved hearing all about Ramadan and how you celebrate. The Muslim children in our school said they felt really included to have someone speak about their faith. Other children and staff said they found it really interesting and helpful to learn more. In general, we loved how relatable you are to the children and we'd love to have you back another time. Hopefully we will be able to visit the Mosque in the summertime. Ramadan kareem! Thank you, Year 2 teacher"

    Canterbury Primary School

"I just wanted to let you know that I have done some pupil voice with some of the children at school asking them what they thought of the assembly. All the children I spoke with said that they thought the assembly was very interesting and that it was important to understand different religions. I have spoken to some children of the Muslim faith and one of them informed me that it has triggered conversations with others about her beliefs. Thank you again for taking your time to come in and visit us. I look forward to seeing you again in the future. Kind regards and thanks."

    Eastling Primary School 2024

Please pass on my thanks to all the people involved in our visit today. The children had a lovely time and learnt a lot. Everyone was so kind and we felt very welcome. We will see you in 2 years as this is when we cover this area of RE again. Many thanks again."

"Dear Chairman of the Mosque, Rana and all the volunteers, Thank you very much on behalf of all the children and adults from Year 5 Blean Primary whom you have welcomed so warmly and kindly during our visits to the Mosque this week. We all learned a great deal and really appreciated the time and effort organising the activities must have taken. With warmest wishes to you all, Year 5 teachers at Blean Primary School"

Boughton And Dunkirk Primary School 2024
